“In the Holy Eucharist we enter into this movement of love from which all interior progress and all apostolic efficacy springs.” –St. Pope John Paul II

The Eucharist is the center of the life of the Church and by giving Honor to God, Eucharistic Adoration touches the heart of her mission as expressed in the Our Father: “Hallowed be Thy name, Thy Kingdom come; Thy will be done…” Jesus is truly present under the appearance of bread with His body, blood, soul and divinity. Christ loves us to the point of dying on the Cross for us as St. Paul exclaims, “He loved me and delivered Himself for me.” In Adoration we respond to Jesus’ prayer: “Pray with me, stay with me, watch and pray.”

In the Eucharist, Jesus offers Himself to the Father and He deserves our worship and adoration. Pray as you like. Reading and meditation lead to communion with the Lord or just bask in the light of the Eucharist. St. John of the Cross said: “One instant of pure love is more precious in the eyes of God and more profitable to the whole Church than all good works put together.” Come before the Blessed Sacrament to share your pure love.

Allow Christ to work on you and through you. By coming before the Eucharist, you tell the world that the Eucharist is the Word of God made Man. St. Pope John Paul II said about adoration: “The Church and the world have a great need of Eucharistic worship. Jesus waits for us in this sacrament of love. Let us be generous with our time. Let us be generous with our time in going to meet Him in adoration and in contemplation that is full of faith and ready to make reparation for the great faults and crimes of the world. May our adoration never cease.”

Regulations for Exposition: 1) Genuflection in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament, whether in the tabernacle or exposed for public adoration, is on one knee. [as you enter your pew or cross in front of the Eucharist—including children going to the bathroom] 2) For exposition of the Blessed Sacrament in the monstrance, four to six candles are lighted and incense is used. For exposition in the ciborium, at least two candles should be lighted. 3) Brief periods of Exposition are to be arranged so that the blessing with the Eucharist is preceded by reading the word of God, songs, prayers, and silent prayer.

GUIDELINES EUCHARISTIC ADORATION

  1. The rosary may be included, emphasizing the Christological aspects of the mysteries with time provided for silent adoration and meditation.
  2. Prayers, songs, and readings should direct the faithful to the worship of Christ. There should be readings from the Scriptures with a homily or brief exhortation to develop a better understanding of the Eucharistic mystery.
  1. Because God is present on the altar, one should never turn their back on the Eucharist.
  2. Chatting with friends should never occur during adoration, this is to take place outside.
  3. If you leave while the Eucharist is exposed, genuflect and leave in silence.
  4. The priest uses a humeral veil to emphasize that the blessing is by Jesus, not the priest, you may touch the priest’s veil or the altar cloth, but not the Monstrance.

Your servant in Christ, Father Paul
